The United Arab Emirates on Tuesday announced that it was relaxing restrictions for inbound passengers from six countries, including Nigeria.The country’s National Emergency and Crisis Management Authority (NCEMA) said the lifting of the restrictions will take effect from August 5.The country in January had announced a ban on transit flights from Nigeria as it battled a rise in COVID-19 cases.However Tuesday’s announcement will allow passengers from the six countries – India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Uganda, and Nigeria – to be able to transit through UAE airports, as they present negative PCR tests taken 72 hours before departure. “Travel for…

The Ogun State Internal Revenue Service (OGIRS) has reduced the direct assessment tax payable on stamp duty from 17 to 12 percent, in order to encourage taxpayers and boost revenue generation.The Executive Chairman, OGIRS, Mr. Olugbenga Olaleye disclosed this at the 2021 Second Quarter Revenue Performance Review of the agency at its headquarter in Abeokuta.Olaleye said the reduction was to make Stamp Duty process affordable for taxpayers and increase revenue generation, urging the people of the State to embrace the opportunity and see it as a gesture from the State government. Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) is an exercise meant for the registration of citizens who turned 18 years of age after the last registration exercise; or those who for one reason or another could not register in the previous exercises.The 2010 Electoral Act (as amended) mandates the Commission to carry out CVR nationwide and to make available to every political party within     60 days. The Department of State Services on Monday presented eight aides of Sunday Igboho who were arrested on July 1 at the Federal High Court in Abuja.The aides were arrested when DSS officials raided Igboho’s home on July 1, but have sued on grounds that their fundamental human rights were being infringed on.A lawyer to the arrested aides, Pelumi Olajengbesi, sued the DSS, claiming that his clients have remained underground for weeks.Ruling on the suit, Justice Obiora Egwuatu had ordered the DSS to produce the 12 aides on July 29.But on court day, the DSS failed to honour the directive.The judge…
