Mawere is a town in Ifo Local Government of Ogun state with more than 10,000 inhabitants.
Mawere shares boundary with Isawo in Ikorodu Lagos State and is about 3 hours drive away from the Ifo Local Government Secretariat. It’s geographically located after the long bridge of Isheri-Olofin on the Lagos-Ibadan express way sharing similar boundary with Arepo community of Obafemi-Owode Local Government. Mawere has residents who mostly work and trade in Lagos due to the proximity. It has about … polling units and has over 4,000 registered voters who decide the tide of an election.
Mawere is a community long abandoned by Government of the past due to its remote nature amongst other town in Ifo Local Government.
However, it came to limelight due to recent government projects that were facilitated to the area by local and state governments. It is a thing of pride and joy to inform the good people of Ogun state that the people of Mawere through Hon. Fola Salami’s Transition committee enjoyed the dividends of democracy which the town had been lacking since years past.
Through, Hon. Fola Salami’s administration, a borehole was sunk and made available for public use also much recently a 500KVA capacity transformer was facilitated through the Ogun state government led by Prince Dapo Abiodun, MFR and was delivered few days ago.
The community had not had it good like they have had in the last 12 years.
The men and women, children and the aged, Artisans and corporate workers, Less privileged and the well-to-do people of Mawere will not forget Hon. Fola Salami and Prince Dapo Abiodun’s administration so soon and are calling on the present Local Government Administration to also remember the developing Community located on km 30 Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
It has about 10,000 inhabitants, needs more of govt presence in terms of road infrastructure.
There is the need to establish a public secondary School because the stress and financial demands of attending Ojodu Grammar school which is the closest to them is quite unbearable.
The problem of going all the route to Ifo for tens of kilometers for legal cases underscore the need for establishing a margistrate / customary court, while promising their unalloyed support for Dapo Abiodun towards 2023 election.
