Today is another important day for democracy in Odeda Local government Area.
I would like to congratulate all our elected council legislators taking their oaths of Office today, and I will also congratulate the great people of the wards you are representing respectively.
Today is not just an ordinary swearing-in ceremony but an official starting point of “A call to Service” beckoning on you all to ensure you repay the faith reposed on you by the great people of your respective wards by taking the dividends of democracy right to their doorsteps.
One of the core responsibilities you must handle with utmost care and importance, is your activities at the legislative council, You must ensure that laws that will profit those who entrusted you as the legislators representing your respective wards are paramount to the house and not unnecessary loyalty to individuals.
Local Government, as the name implies, should be able to cater for people at the grassroots, and it is only by doing this that the people who voted you into office will have a tangible share of democracy dividends.
I want you all to know, the governance of our council shall not be “Business as Usual” as we must all be ready to account for our stewardship at all tiers of this Local Government.
I am not here to bother us with too much rhetorics, but to charge us to take the wheel and deliver good democratic dividends to all the nooks and crannies of our dear local government.
I will be glad to work with you all, so that delivery on our Campaign promises will be achieved smoothly, efficiently and speedily.
Once again, congratulations to all our council legislators.
